All About Me
Hi! So… here’s the deal. Even though this is a faceless online boutique, I figured it’s only fair you get to know a little bit about the person running the show behind the scenes. Spoiler alert: it’s me. Hi. 👋
I grew up on the West Coast (still here, actually) and I've spent almost two decades in Corporate America. It is challenging, rewarding, exhausting… all of it. But deep down I knew I wanted something that felt more personal.
More me.
So I started Lustre Nest HQ.
"Lustre" has the British spelling because I'm a bit of an Anglophile thanks to my grandma who would tell me all kinds of stories about British queens and kings when I was a little girl. I've also been obsessed with sparkly things my entire life. Yes, I am a huge fan of the Spice Girls.
The word "Nest" stood out to me because I love birds and I am a bit of a homebody. I don't have a big social media presence, but you can catch me posting videos of the neighborhood mallards while I remain cozy in my home as often as life will allow.
"HQ", headquarters, is just a nod to my corporate background.
I built this boutique on nights and weekends (and during a few lunch breaks), all while keeping my full-time job. Why didn't I drop everything to just focus on this business? To maintain access to affordable healthcare. That’s especially important to me, as I manage several chronic health conditions, including endometriosis, adenomyosis, and PCOS.
So yeah, like a lot of women, I juggle a lot.
I’m also a caregiver to my amazing mom, who lives with a chronic illness too. She raised me with unwavering strength and grace, and now it’s my turn to show up for her the same way. That part of my life keeps me grounded but mostly just grateful that I get to see her on a daily basis. She still does a lot to support me too. She even helped me write this. Hi, Mom!!! 👋
There’s more to the story (isn’t there always?), but this is what I feel good sharing for now.
My goal these days? It’s simple: pay off debt, build something stable, and eventually give back in a bigger way.
One step at a time.
If I run into you while I'm out and about, I might give you a sticker with my website on it. Right now I have glow-in-the-dark and holographic butterflies. It's just a way to give my store more of a word-of-mouth, underground feel and to keep the whimsy alive.
